Organization at a Glance
Protibandhi Somaj Kalyan Somity is a Disabled People's Organization (DPO) working in the Sunamganj district of Bangladesh. The organization was established in 2006, starting with 42 persons with disabilities with support from their initiatives. Now, the organization has 400 members, 192 male and 308 female. The organization implements its activities, ensuring equal participation of men and women with disabilities.
According to the organization's bylaws, there are 21 members in its General Committee, and seven members are in the Executive Committee. The staff and volunteers implement the organizational activities following the directives of the General Secretary/ Executive Director. Through the direct involvement of men and women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and improve their lives with support from government and non-government organizations.
Besides, the organization strives to partner with mainstreaming organizations for Disability Inclusion in their programs by ensuring the active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and providing capacity-building and technical assistance.
